Laminators Sign Panel Substrates Approved for the Gerber SOLARA UV2™ Hybrid Inkjet Printer

Hatfield, PA:   Gerber Scientific Products, Inc. has announced a list of new substrate materials that have been profiled, tested and approved for use with the Gerber SOLARA UV2 hybrid ink jet printer. Working hand-in-hand with Laminators Incorporated of Hatfield, PA, Gerber has profiled some of their most popular rigid substrates used for sign and specialty graphics applications.

The list of approved materials from Laminators for printing on the Gerber SOLARA includes the following:

Omega-Bond™ is a solid core, 3mm aluminum composite panel with a solid polyethylene core that is extremely flat, moisture resistant and light weight. Its factory-baked, polyester paint surface is ready for UV inks or vinyl letters and comes in 6 combinations and 9 colors: White/White, Black/Silver, Black/White, Brushed Gold/Brushed Silver, Blue/Green or Yellow/Red.

OMEGA SignBoard® is a single-sided sign panel constructed of a premium grade, rigid, exterior furniture-grade plywood core and a smooth vinyl surface. These panels are impact resistant and formulated with high performance UV inhibitors to reduce the fading effect of the sun. OMEGA SignBoard is lighter and stronger than MDO and does not require time consuming and costly painting.

Alumalite™ is a strong, aluminum composite panel with a high density, corrugated polyallomer (CPA) core that will not swell, corrode, or delaminate even under prolonged water exposure. Alumalite has factory baked, acrylic-painted aluminum faces with a high gloss brilliance that is perfect for UV inks or vinyl graphics. A 4’ x 8’ sheet of Alumalite weighs just  24 lbs. however, it is over 50 times stronger for a comparable sheet of 0.40 sheet metal. When properly installed it has an average outdoor life expectancy of 10 years.

“We chose to work with Laminators Incorporated because of their outstanding reputation for high quality materials,” explained Sean Childs, product manager at Gerber Scientific Products. “We continue to profile and approve materials that we feel can consistently meet our standards for quality.
