GRANTHAM, PA – With 25 state-of-the-art classrooms, three computer labs, a language lab and a full-scale movie theater, Boyer Hall is the largest and most technologically advanced building on the Messiah College campus. The building’s architecture reflects the tradition of the surrounding campus while hinting at the technological resources to be found inside. The materials used for its construction include brick and Thermolite insulating aluminum wall panels.
Laminators Incorporated, Hatfield, PA, manufactured the Thermolite panels, which feature an insulating foam core sandwiched between corrugated polyallomer stabilizers and aluminum sheets. Approximately 40,000 sq. ft. of the Champagne-colored, PVDF-finished panels were used.
Ayers/Saint/Gross of Baltimore, MD, designed the building. Laminators’ Thermolite panels were specified by the architect because they offer outstanding durability and weather resistance, and are lightweight and formable. Thermolite panels are known for their excellent insulating properties and outstanding fire resistance, and are manufactured to be virtually maintenance free for up to 20 years. The ability of the Thermolite panels to be fabricated on site resulted in significant savings through reduced transportation and installation costs.
